Soil and Water

Water

Main content start

Fresh groundwater and surface water are two major pieces of the Earth system puzzle. Together they act as the arena for a cornucopia of reactive processes in rivers, lakes, soils, aquifers and everywhere else freshwater is found. Hydrologic disturbance is a major driver for altered biogeochemical cycling of soil minerals, nutrients, and even bedrock, making the intersection between physical hydrology and subsurface materials tightly coupled.

Our research areas include:

  1. Groundwater quality implications on drinking water supply
  2. Floodplain biogeochemistry and hydrology
  3. Aquatic biogeochemistry
